Escher’s Solid

Escher’s solid is a polyhedra containing three interpenetrating cubes. This structure appears in many sketches and woodcut prints of the artist M.C.Escher. We are fascinated by this unit cell (it is the first stellation of a rhombic dodecahedron) which on tessellation fills all of 3D space. We generated this image in Mathematica.
